The Band

TIMBERLAND RIDGE is Thea Wescott, vocals and rhythm guitar, Jake Faircloth, vocals and rhythm/lead guitar, Chuck Hester, vocals and mandolin, John Sigmon banjo and vocals and John Pyles, bass.

TIMBERLAND RIDGE is the brainchild of singer/songwriter, Thea Wescott, whose dream was to grow a band to perform and accompany her own penned songs along with traditional and contemporary bluegrass. A veteran of the Northwest music scene since the 1970s, Thea has performed for audiences around the west and across the country. In 1999, she had her first taste of straight ahead bluegrass and the rest is history.

Multi-instrumentalist Chuck Hester comes from a musical heritage and played his first professional gig at the age of 9 with his Dad's band, playing guitar and drums. Chuck's genuine vocal delivery and tasty sense of syncopation on his namesake "Hester" mandolins made by his wife and master luthier, Gail Hester, are becoming well-known at Timberland Ridge performances.

John Pyles first heard bluegrass in 1963 and when his brother brought a banjo home one day, that was all it took -- John was hooked. He’s been playing bluegrass ever since. In the 1970s, John took up the bass. He has played in several bands in the San Francisco and Seattle area and now keeps that solid backbone for Timberland Ridge.

John Sigmon got his first open backed "Kay" banjo in 1964 as a Christmas gift from his parents. John will tell you when he first heard Earl Scruggs play it changed his life forever. John has played with several bands over the years in Mississippi, North Carolina an in the Pacific Northwest. John’s banjo playing is tasty, clean and driving and his vocals are strong and passionate.

Jake Faircloth, delights audiences with his lightning fast flat-picking. With his awesome speed and clean rhythm, he has established himself as one of the Northwest's top flat-pickers. Rumor has it that Jake has now taken up the banjo!
